Big Brother/Big Sister

Each of our children is encouraged to develop their own unique talents. All younger children at St. A's have a mentor, a Big Brother or Sister, who will help shepherd the younger student through his or her first year.

Community service is an important adjunct to our mission, and we provide many opportunities for our students to experience the world as a site for participation and contribution.

Computer/Library

Beginning in kindergarten, students are given the opportunity to use our computer lab on a regular basis. Our computer/library center, with 28 IMac computers, is a state-of-the-art facility. Children are taught basic computing skills including computer vocabulary. In addition, students learn word processing, database, spreadsheets, keyboarding, and multimedia presentations as well as beginning web page design. Our library is used by all students for story time, research skills and as a source for good reading material. Library skills activities are incorporated into our K-6 grade program. Learning to access and use information well gives our students a good basis for academic work in high school.

French

The French program begins in the first grade with once weekly instruction and continues through 8th grade, where students can elect to participate in a more intensive study of French. Students who have successfully completed the 8th grade course usually place into 2nd year French at the local high schools. In addition to reading, writing and speaking, all students are actively engaged in learning about French people and their customs. The study of French culture includes an opportunity to travel to France after 7th grade to experience French life first hand.

Kindergarten Enrichment

Kindergarten Enrichment curriculum includes, but is not limited to; art, science, nutrition, music and language arts. Activities are chosen to enhance the planned weekly themes of our kindergarten classroom. Enrichment is available for both the AM and PM classes.
