St. Athanasius School 2510 Ashland Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201 phone 847-864-2650 fax 847-475-7385 Parent involvement and support are important and encouraged at St. Athanasius. We welcome all talents and gifts of time. Parents can participate in their children's education as classroom volunteers, coaches, or members of organizations. Children, parents, and staff work together to create a special "spirit" which encompasses all school activities.
Parent School OrganizationThe purpose of the PSO is to unite home, school, and community, to promote the welfare of our children, and to provice services that enrich school experiences. Because of these goals, the PSO is a very active organization. It has many committees, programs, and activities that are focused on the children, their parents, and their teachers. Some examples of standing committees are Volunteer Program, Cultural Arts, Teacher Appreciation, Parent Education, and the Sponsor Family Program. The PSO also provides social and/or fundraising events including the Pancake Breakfast, Rummage Sale, Market Day, Book Fair, and Hot Dog and Pasta Days. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month, alternating between day and evening meetings. Babysitting is provided at the morning meetings. Parish Pastoral CouncilThe Parish Pastoral Council of St. Athanasius is the policy-making and decision-making body for the parish. It oversees all parish activities. The Council is comprised of elected members from various parish areas, along with representatives from each parish organization. The pastor is an integral part of the decision-making process. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month. Guests are always welcome. School BoardThe St. Athanasius School Board is an advisory board, which assists the administration in educational programs within St. Athanasius Parish. The board consists of 12 voting members, who are chosen for three-year terms at a parish election. The pastor and principal serve as ex-officio members. Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month. Again, guests are always welcome. |
