Admission Policies
St. Athanasius welcomes all applicants. Students must be three years old by September 1 for preschool (junior kindergarten), and five years old by September 1 to enter kindergarten their starting year.

Applications are accepted throughout the year.

Admission for those who submit after February 6, 2023 will be on a first-come, first-served basis. St. Athanasius School gives admission preference in the following order: Siblings of current students, Catholic students that are St. Athanasius parishioners, Catholic students from other parishes, and Non-Catholic students.

Financial Aid Application and verifying documents are due April 20, 2023.
Requests for financial aid information can be made with your application. Decisions are made in April.

Transfer Students
Please bring a copy of your child’s transcript or most recent report card to the meeting with the principal or submit them with your application to [email protected] Reviewing your student’s previous academic record helps determine appropriate placement at St. Athanasius. Reading and math levels for students entering Units B, C, and D (grades 3-8) will be assessed before an admissions decision is made. Contact will be made with the student’s school when appropriate.
Notification of Admission Status
A letter emailed within 2 weeks of your application will inform families of admission status. If a place in the class cannot be guaranteed at this time, parents can request placing the child’s name on the waitlist. Changes frequently occur during the spring and summer that make space available in a class.
Admissions Confirmation
Confirmation to attend St. Athanasius School should be received in late March for applicants who submitted an application by February 6th, 2023. In the case of a special circumstance, please contact the principal. A commitment fee of $500 ($250 of which is deducted from your first month's tuition) is due with the returned acceptance letter.
School Forms due by August 13, 2023 (for the 2023-24 school year).
Please return the following forms to the school office: Emergency Contact Form and Medical, Dental and Vision Forms. The State of Illinois requires a physical examination for all kindergarteners, sixth graders, and new students. An eye exam is also required for new students. Visit www.saintas.net to obtain forms.
