Academic Assessments

iReady Testing

The Archdiocese of Chicago has adopted Aspire, a standardized assessment derived from the national, college-bound ACT test, to help gauge students’ progress toward college and career readiness.

Grades K through 8 take iReady testing. It focuses on the areas of English, math, reading, science and writing. The results offer teachers a better understanding of student growth and risk, and also provide schools the information necessary for earlier intervention. Our students score well above national and Archdiocesan averages on all achievement tests required by the Archdiocese of Chicago. It is one of the tools we use in the greater academic picture for students of St. A’s.

Conferences

Formal parent-teacher conferences occur every November. There are optional conferences in the Spring. Additional meetings may be requested by staff or parents as needed to support a student’s individual needs and achievement.

Grading

Report cards are distributed at the end of each semester. The middle school grades also utilize Powershool as a tool for managing homework, and assignments and as an option for viewing grades throughout the semester.

JK-2nd grade utilizes Standards Based Grading

3rd-8th grade utilizes Traditional Grade Assessments (A, B, C, D, F)
